Set in Finistère, in Southern Brittany between Medieval town of Quimper (8km) and wonderful beaches of the sandy Atlantic coastline (8km), the charming luxury Bed and Breakfast (B&B) Château de Penfrat is counting the second century of existence. Built in 1859 by the famous French architect Joseph Bigot for the noble Cambourg family originally as a hunting house, Château de Penfrat later became their home on the magnificant river bank in the St Cadou cove (the Odet river). The estate with the riding club was taken over by the present owner in 1989. Today Château de Penfrat renovated in 2011 and transformed to a B&B by Barbora (former hotel industry pro) offers you a secret hideaway in the luxury, comfortable and cosy guest rooms: Double Classical Room, the Riverside Apartment for the family of four and the South Suite for a romantic stay in Southern Brittany, in Finistère…. The property of 100ha, surrounded by nature offers you possibility to observe the birds and animal living freely in Penfrat. The hunger to explore,  to cross the meadow and wash your feet in the morning dew… to walk to the river where the high tide reflects the warm light. The sky on the water. One can swim in the clouds ! Soft landing from your dreams continued by royal and healthy breakfast: tea, coffee, hot chocolate upon your choice; organic seasonal fruits, local yogourts, home made jams, crispy baguette and butter croissant… Some boiled eggs? Maybe an omlette ? For a perfect finish – gâteau breton ! And all this served in the garden. One can smell the roses and freshly cut grass… The air full of sounds : birds discussing, warm breez in the trees, guests laughing… No fake, only real things happening.

The casual day in Château de Penfrat guest house continues by sightseeing, discovering the surroundings of Finistère. Next to Château de Penfrat one can have a magic walk in the botanic parc Boutiguery. What about visiting midevial Quimper, Locranon, Concarneau, Pont Aven ? Are you more fond of the sea and the sand, the endless beaches ? You may love exploring the bay of Audierne or the bay of Douarnenez. To enjoy the best waves in Finistère and in Brittany go to surf, kitesurf or windsurf in Pointe de la Torche. Travelling with children? The resort of Bénodet offers you many attractions and activities. Hungry ? One of the best places to have the afternoon snack is a little chic fishermen port of Sainte Marine or the authentic Lesconil - the jewel of Pays Bigouden. On your way there don’t miss Loctudy and Île Tudy. Once you’re there you might enjoy visiting the lighthouse of Eckmühl (historical monument) in Penmarch. The end of this perfect discovery day may end in Pointe du Raz – litterally the end of the land, the extreme west point in Finistère and in Brittany. The spectacular sunset standing on the edge will take your breath away.

Back to Château de Penfrat to find your holiday home, to rest. You may fall in your bed and relax before dinner. Or maybe instead you wish to have one of the nice body treatments proposed by Karin, our massage specialist. You can also take a cozy place in the garden and read one of the books you found in Château’s library. Around 6pm the apéro is served for those who hang out in a lazy mood waiting for the dinner… The apéro is a very important part of the day in Penfrat. Everyone gathers in the evening sunshine to share some interesting moments, discussions. The intellectual and easy “bla bla” often grows to garden party. The nice friendships were born this way…
